When to go for surgery? What would be the complication if not operated?

Surgery is the commonest mode of treatment. Appendicitis is commonly treated by Laparoscopic surgery, and is now the standard of care. If the disease is severe with pus inside the abdomen / other complications where laparoscopy is not possible, then an open surgery is performed by a cut in the right lower abdomen.

Is it covered under insurance?

Is the treatment covered under insurance?

Health insurances cover the cost of appendicitis treatment. The limit on claim amount depends on your policy. Cashless or reimbursement depends on your policy, TPA and affiliations of the hospital with the insurance company.

How is the recovery after surgery?

Your recovery time depends on the type of surgery you had. If you had laparoscopic surgery, you will probably be able to return to work or a normal routine within a week after surgery. If you have an open surgery, it may take 2 to 4 weeks.
