How is the recovery after surgery?

After Septoplasty Recovery after surgery for deviated septum (septoplasty) is generally fairly quick. Performing septoplasty alone does not require any work to be performed on the external portion of the nose, and therefore any visible bruising or swelling is quite rare. You will be able to return to work within a few days, but it all depends on your job as well as returning to normal activities within three weeks or so. The majority of patients reach full recovery in 1 to 2 months with a revisit to the doctor’s office in about 3 or four months post-surgery ,only for him or her to check your healing.

Frequently Asked Questions

On the whole the procedure takes up roughly around 45 to 60 minutes.

Symptoms due to the deviated septum — particularly nasal obstruction — could completely go away. However, any other nasal or sinus conditions you have that affect the tissues lining your nose — such as allergies — cannot be cured with only surgery.

It is actually possible to have a deviated septum and not even know it until you get older. That is because this condition can worsen as you get older and your nasal structures change. Your nose changes just like other parts of your body. The nasal cartilage can become softer, weaker and brittle over time.

Most people find that recovery from surgery to correct a deviated septum is relatively painless and that nasal breathing is permanently restored.

Deviated nasal septum affects hearing and middle ear ventilation by altering Eustachian tube function. It leads to ear fullness, affects middle ear ventilation and impacts hearing.
